Hyundai Capital Services UK Ltd (HCUK) is a joint venture company established by Santander Consumer UK and Hyundai Capital Services Korea in 2012. It operates under the Hyundai Finance and Kia Finance brands, providing funding solutions for both Retailers and Consumers.

Job Purpose

Reporting into the Credit Manager and based at the HCUK head office in Reigate, Surrey. The key purpose of this role is to ensure a full review of wholesale facilities is carried out on a regular basis and the data accurately recorded, as well as making appropriate lending recommendations to the correct authority levels within HCUK, SCUK, Madrid and Seoul. This role will also be responsible for the structure and negotiation of security arrangements in support of HCUK’s lending proposals. The role will act as the main point of contact with external legal advisors/solicitors and control and deliver all daily wholesale activities within the scope of this role.

Key Accountabilities

1. General strategic

  • Analyse, monitor, control and report on HCUK’s Dealer Wholesale Funding Operations, with specific focus on:
  • Assessment and continuous monitoring of all credit risk related aspects of the operation
  • Ensuring reviews of new business propositions and existing funding lines are carried out and kept up to date in line with HCUK corporate standards by undertaking appropriate P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow analysis of dealerships/dealership groups
  • Control and development of the related credit policies, procedures, controls and reporting
  • Support the preparation of plans, budgets and related KPIs and measures
  • Support the operation in line with the agreed plans, budgets and KPIs
  • Proactively identify opportunities for business and product development to help the company achieve its business targets
  • Identification & mitigation of any risk issues
  • Active contribution to the performance of the Wholesale Risk Team
  • Development of close, effective working relationships with our OEM partners, SCUK relevant departments, internal and external auditors and other related 3rd party suppliers and organisations
  • Ensuring compliance with all related polices regulations and mandates
  • Validating and recording all data obtained from external operations
  • Contribute to the delivery of specified projects as a part of the strategic and operational plans
  • Adherence to all risk policies and an active engagement with our conduct risk and customer focused culture


2. Planning and budgetary control

Contribute as required to the development of an annual business plan and budgets in line with HCUK’s overall objectives, including timings and high-level deliverables based on the strategic goals established for the role with line management and support the delivery the plan in line with the prescribed timings.


3. Technical knowledge

Maintain up-to-date awareness of all relevant risk, credit, compliance and regulatory requirements, and market best practices and then work with the business and related partners to continually refine HCUK policies and processes. Act as a wholesale risk subject matter expert within the organisation.

4. Stakeholder engagement

Establish a sound working relationship with all areas of the business, including external key stakeholders, in particular Santander Consumer and related group companies, Hyundai Capital Services and related group companies, Kia Motors UK and Hyundai Motor UK.

5. Communication and Reporting

Establish and maintain effective communications with all related regulatory and compliance bodies, Santander Consumer and Hyundai Capital Services head office departments, our OEM partners and other key stakeholders.

Working under the guidance of line management, develop and produce a high quality MI reporting suite/dashboard.

6. Outsourced Oversight

Within the scope of the role, maintain effective oversight and monitoring of any outsourced or other HCUK department related activities, to ensure performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are delivered and contractual obligations and charges are verified and audited.


7. Insight and continuous improvement

Contribute to an on-going review process in order to continually improve and refine the departments QA measures and performance and to ensure continued adherence to legislation, regulation and internal policy.

8. Other

Deputise for other team members and represent the Wholesale Risk Department as required. Carry out any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested.

Concern for accuracy & detail

Required Experience

Given the scope of this position it is essential that the job holder has the following experience:

  • Sound and relevant wholesale credit analysis experience within financial services, preferably automotive related, together with the required soft skills
  • Ideally will be well versed in the broader areas of financial services operations including:
    • Products and services
    • Automotive market
    • Financial controls
    • Sales processes and channels
  • Has a sound understanding of credit risk controls, processes, measures and related MI/reporting and the related technical knowledge
  • Has a general sound knowledge of policies and procedures within financial services regulated and compliant environments
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with an understanding of key financial ratios
  • Is able to produce sound working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals and requirements, briefs and presentations
  • Has an appreciation of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to the provision wholesale credit and preferably has an understanding of the retail consumer credit environment and the use of customer data
  • Is familiar with the principles encapsulated within ‘treating customers fairly’ and operation/conduct risk
  • Strong all round PC skills


In addition to the above it is expected that any candidate is able to display a good understanding of the general market sector, can exhibit sound business acumen, have excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable and confident when dealing with Senior/Board-level management.


  • Has the appropriate level of education and preferably qualified or part-qualified or studying towards a recognised credit risk qualification

Other Information

  • The position may require international as well as domestic travel from time to time
  • The job holder would benefit from possessing a full driving licence

Remuneration Package

  • Salary £30,000 - £40,000 plus a quarterly performance based  bonus
