Hyundai Capital UK Ltd is a joint venture company established by Santander Consumer UK and Hyundai Capital Services Korea in 2012. It operates under the Hyundai Finance and Kia Finance brands, providing funding solutions for both Retailers and Consumers.

Job Purpose

Based at the Hyundai Capital UK Ltd (HCUK) head office in Reigate and reporting into the Managing Director, the purpose of this key senior management position is to lead the organisation’s Sales and Marketing functions across its two customer facing brands, Hyundai Finance and Kia Finance. The Commercial Director will be responsible for delivering the commercial aspects of the organisations business plan, focusing on retaining customers, delivering innovative products, through new, as well as existing sales channels.

Key Accountabilities

1. Strategic planning

Based on the organisation’s overall business plan, develop and document a comprehensive and coherent Sales and Marketing strategy for HCUK and its two customer-facing brands, Hyundai Finance and Kia Finance.

2. Operational planning

Based on the documented and agreed strategic plan, lead the development of annual Sales and Marketing activity plans outlining timings and high-level deliverables across all Sales and Marketing areas and gain approval for annual spend.

3. Budgetary control

Lead the delivery of the organisation’s annual Sales and Marketing activity plan and objective in line with prescribed budget, through ongoing review and monitoring of costs.

4. Stakeholder Management

Establish a sound working relationship with the appropriate senior management counterparts at Hyundai Motor UK and Kia Motors UK, as well as with the organisation’s joint venture partners, Santander Consumer UK and Hyundai Capital Services Korea.

5. Team leadership

Lead and develop the organisation’s Sales Directors and Marketing Director, through the setting of clear, well-communicated objectives and through on-going direction, coaching and guidance as necessary.

6. Pricing and Commission

Retain responsibility for overall new business margins through management of the approval, monitoring and review process of Dealer commission and funding terms in line with the pricing mandate matrix established for the company.

7. Governance and Risk

 

As a member of the company’s senior management team, take an active role in the organisation’s governance through participation in executive committees as directed under the company’s management and governance structure, and through adhering to the company’s conduct and operational risk principles.

8. Relationship management

Establish an effective relationship with key dealer groups and accounts taking direct responsibility for negotiations and relationship management as appropriate.

9. Incentives and Events

Establish the organisation’s annual external incentives and events calendar.

10. Compliance and Regulatory matters

Retain overall responsibility for ensuring the Sales and Marketing functions operate in a compliant manner from a legal, regulatory and business perspective by putting the customer at the heart of all activity.

11. Other

Carry out any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested.

Required Experience

Given the scope of this position it is essential that the job holder has the following experience:

  • Has held previous management positions that required leading business units at both strategic and operational levels
  • Has extensive Sales and Marketing experience, having ideally worked in both a B-2-B and B-2-C environment
  • Would benefit from having worked in an organisation where multiple stakeholder management was common or where exposure to an international as well as domestic business operation existed
  • Is able to produce sound strategic and working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals, briefs and presentations
  • Has an appreciation of legal, regulatory and compliance issues relating to the leadership of a sales function within the financial services sector and is familiar with the principles based regulation established by the Financial Conduct Authority including encapsulated within the ‘treating customer fairly’ code of conduct

In addition to the above it is expected that any candidate is able to display a good understanding of the general market sector, can exhibit sound business acumen, have excellent interpersonal skills and is comfortable and confident when dealing with Board-level management.

Education

  • Has the appropriate level of education and or sales/marketing related qualifications

Other Information

  • The position will require international as well as domestic travel from time to time
  • The jobholder must possess a full driving licence

Remuneration Package

  • Base salary circa £85,000, plus annual performance based bonus
