Background

Hyundai Capital Services UK Ltd (HCUK) is a joint venture company established by Santander Consumer UK (SCUK) and Hyundai Capital Services Korea (HCS) in 2012. It operates under the Hyundai Finance, Kia Finance and Genesis Finance brands, providing funding solutions for both Retailers and Consumers.

Job Purpose

Reporting into the Operations & IT Director, the aim of the role is to be responsible for Wholesale Operations and Operations Oversight functions within HCUK. Working in conjunction with the Operations & IT Director, you will design, implement, and develop systems and controls to ensure we meet or exceed all regulatory and internal standards and requirements for these two key areas of the business.

Key Accountabilities

1. General strategic

Oversee and continually Improve all Wholesale Operations and Operations Oversight activity needs ensuring:

·        Good customer outcomes and ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ is the focus of all activity.

·        All strategies and developments align with the overall business strategy.

·        Compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements.

·        A firm foundation is provided for the business to build/ develop new products & services.

2. Planning and budgetary control

Assist the Operations & IT Director to establish an annual Operations activity plan, outlining timings and high-level deliverables based upon the strategic goals established for the role and conform with our Global Governance Policy whilst ensuring this plan is delivered within agreed budgets and timings.

3.  Outsourced Services Oversight

·       Assist the Operations & IT Director, working with all areas of the business, to agree and implement a governance model for all external services, including SCUK, Zenith, APAK, and VQS.  This includes development of appropriate controls, reporting and a clear auditable level of oversight.

·       Be the subject matter expert on all Wholesale Operations and Operations Oversight matters for the business, providing insight on which operational and governance policy decisions are made.

·       Demonstrate understanding of the FCA requirements in relation to outsourced oversight, in particular SYS8.0, and ensure oversight evidence compliance with this requirement.

4. Stakeholder engagement

·       Own the working relationship with HCS Operations, ensuring all global requirements and initiatives are reviewed, discussed, agreed and best practice is shared across the HCS global entities.

·       Establish a good working relationship with all internal and external key stakeholders, in particular, SCUK and our OEM partners, and ensure all requirements are reviewed, discussed and agreed as appropriate.

5. Reporting

·      Ensure relevant reports, data and committee packs are created and delivered on schedule.

·      Identify and respond to operational incidents and risk management.

7. Insight and continuous improvement

Identify actionable business insight and establish an on-going review process to continually improve and refine operational functions to ensure HCUK has a robust and secure business model, which exceeds the requirements of regulators, shareholders and internal governance committees.

8. Risk and Compliance

·      In line with the company’s risk and compliance statement of responsibility and objectives, identify and assess risks, incidents and breaches, in accordance with company policies and department procedures.

·      Maintain up-to-date awareness of conduct and operational risk related current affairs and have a demonstrable understanding of their potential impact on the business

9. People Development

·      Accountable for setting high level objectives for direct reports and effectively managing performance

·      Ensure direct reports are adequately trained and supported to carry out their roles effectively

·      Encourage learning and development and create opportunities for personal/ professional development

10. Other

Carry out any other tasks from time to time as may reasonably be requested.

Required Experience

Given the scope of this position within an FCA regulated environment, combined with the related responsibilities, it is essential that the job holder has the following experience:

  • Sound and relevant experience within automotive financial services
  • Knowledge of wholesale funding agreements and associated operational functions, processes and risks
  • Comprehensive understanding of operational and business functions and processes across all finance and insurance products that HCUK offer
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FCA requirements and the principles encapsulated within ‘Treating Customers Fairly’
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and GDPR
  • Experience of managing suppliers and 3rd party vendors in a complex operational services environment, ideally with SYS 8.0 experience
  • Competent in operational and conduct risk management
  • Comprehensive and proven ability to perform operational reviews, analyse risks, addressing contingency planning and promoting treating customers fairly and good customer outcomes
  • Proven people manager
  • Experience of Project Management, for the delivery of operations initiatives

Education

  • Has the appropriate level of education or professional risk/compliance/operations/industry related qualifications.

Other Information

  • Due to COVID-19, HCUK employees are currently hybrid working [mixture of home/ office]. The usual place of work for this position is at HCUK’s head office in Reigate, Surrey.
  • Post COVID-19, some international as well as domestic travel may be necessary from time to time.
  • The job holder would benefit from possessing a full driving licence.

Remuneration Package

  • Base salary circa £65,000
  • Eligibility for quarterly bonus, based on company and individual performance, companywide average of 18%
